In contrast to the judgement & wrath of God for all sinners found in Romans 1:18-3:20, chapter 3 verses 21-26 declare that "the righteousness of God is given to all who believe!" We see that faith in Christ causes us to be justified before God through the redemption that came by Jesus who was presented by the Father as a sacrifice of atonement.
During the teaching time we focused on three words: Justification, Redemption & Atonement.
- Justification means TO DECLARE RIGHTEOUS
- Redemption means COSTLY DELIVERANCE
- Atonement means SATISFACTION OF WRATH
We landed asking this question: WHY would God put forward His Son as a sacrifice? Most would likely say it was because he loves us... God does love us but Paul says something different. He says that God put forward His Son to suffer and die in order to demonstrate his justice and guard his righteousness.
This has BIG implications on our view of God and salvation. You can hear a lot more by listening to Sundays message!
“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”
