On Wednesday, June 17 people gathered at Emanuel AME Church, a historically black church in Charleston, SC for Bible study and prayer. During the study a young white supremacist named Dylan Roof opened fire killing 9 people. A few days later families of the victims stood together to offer forgiveness to the killer and call him to repent and turn his life over to Jesus Christ.
During our service on Sunday, June 28 Hope Church took time in our service to pray for the city of Charleston, the families and loved ones of the 'Charleston 9' and the Emanuel AME Church. We also spent time processing together the implications of this tragedy on our church and community.
