In years past mission teams that came to serve were given projects by pastor and staff, projects we felt would help meet needs in the city and expose people to our church. This work was fruitful and helpful!
Over the past year though our Hope Communities have developed to the point that each one has a specific neighborhood or people group that the H/C is seeking to serve. Because of this development we want to be more intentional to connect mission teams with Hope Communities to help develop relationships, meet needs and share Jesus in conjunction with ongoing Hope Community efforts.
The big implication is that the Hope Community leaders will need to help shape the work being done by the mission teams. We want these groups to be a strong partner with each of our Hope Communities aiding them in meeting needs, building relationships, putting on events, inviting people to church and the H/C gatherings, and sharing Jesus.
The more developed the H/C strategy and the more the H/C leaders are involved in the work of the mission teams the more effective these groups will be in building up Hope Church.
I want to invite H/C leaders into the planning process. I want to see individuals in each group get involved in the work of our mission teams where possible. I want to see fruitful and strategic work being done throughout 2015.
I look forward to coordinating with H/C's & mission teams to make an impact in our city! If you have a project in your neighborhood, school, social circle or in your family that you believe could lead to people connecting with Christ or the Church please e-mail me! firstname.lastname@example.org
